How Does Solar Power Works?
Solar Power is one of the cleanest renewable energy source which works by converting sun’s rays into power electricity. The component used in harvesting this Sun’s rays is called solar panel (PV panel or photovoltaic panel) which is made of arranged silicon cells excited by photons when the sun’s light falls on it, the difference of potential created at the junction, potential difference, also called voltage difference. A Direct Current (DC) is generated from the panel which is converted to an alternating current (AC) best for powering devices like your Television, Fridge, Washing machine etc through the use of an Inverter.

Why is Solar Energy Electricity so costly?
It is true that the initial cost of solar energy for home and businesses can be high just like the initial generation of all other sources of energy to the National and state grid but when the cost is spread over the lifetime of use, solar can then be used very cost-saving as it is well known that inflation will always increase the cost of National electricity to the residence, business, and Industry. It is expected that your initial solar installation should serve from 25 to 35 years depending on design, installation, quality of components, and the method of use.
How much will I save?
It depends on the way you look at cost-saving, for short term projection, it may look as if you are not saving much due to the initial cost but it is well known that when the cost of powering your appliance with petrol, generator, replacement/maintenance of generator parts and National grid cost factored in, over a period of ten years and 15 years, the cost of Solar seems cheaper overtime.
Why should I even choose Solar Solution?
There are plenty of reasons to go for Solar Solutions but the most important one is the long-term cost saving for yourself, others are the beauty of having a green and noiseless environment. Knowing that inflation will definitely affect the prices of fueling and this rising cost will have an impact on income and other aspects.
Can I go off-grid (without connection to National Power Source) with Solar?
You can always go off-grid depending on the kind of Solution installed for you and the weather condition around you. The desire to completely go off-grid is dependent on these two. If the weather condition is favorable for solar that is to help charge the number of batteries you have daily, then going completely off-grid will save you some money.
How many Solar Panels can charge a 200Ah battery?
For a 12V 200Ah battery, the total Wh derived would be 2400Wh. Assuming the sun was able to charge the battery for 5hours., then we will have 480 watt which practically means two 250W to 260W should be sufficient to charge a 12V 200Ah Solar battery full for 5 hours duration. What Solar Capacity will I be needing for my 3 bedroom flat? The best way to determine what any three-bedroom flat would consume will be to know 1. The number of appliances to be power by Solar 2. The rating of each appliance 3. How long they will be powered 4. The number of batteries to be used and other factors. Always ensure you list out correctly the wattage of each appliance that will be powered using solar for the engineers to choose capacity appropriately. You can get a free Solar quote from us. Send a mail to info@geraldsenergy.com or call +2348035439254 How often do I need to clean my Solar Panel? Dust and debris will overtime accumulate on the solar panels which may not seriously have an impact on the output of the Solar Power Output. It will require that you clean when output on the system drops noticeably. Solar installation generally requires minimal maintenance and usually, we recommend maintenance every 18 months-24 months.
How long will my Solar Energy Solution Last?
A good Solar installation is meant to last for over 20 years as the line performance will decrease over time, panels can be replaced and the system power output got back from the source. How many batteries would I be needing for a 1kW system for 24 hours supply? Depending on usage, a minimum of four good 12V 200Ah batteries would be best suitable to give 9.6kWh. Know more about our 1kW or any other solution from here.
Why transport contributes to air pollution?
One quarter of energy related CO2 emissions comes from transport? With cars, lorries and buses all powered by fossil fuels, they emit nitrogen oxides into our air and contribute as a major source of global warming emissions all over the world. Through clean vehicle and fuel technologies we can significantly reduce our emissions from vehicles. The rise in electric vehicles being developed is also helping to reduce these emissions while still allowing people to travel long distances. However, much more action needs to be taken to make the public understand the implications and change their ways
What can people do to help combat air pollution?
To improve our air pollution levels, we need to reduce the demand for transport and encourage the use of active travel and zero emission transport. Electric vehicle technologies have significantly improved over the years which is making them more popular among individuals and businesses. For example, Due to initiatives such as the Ultra Low Emission Zone, there has been a big investment in electric buses and taxis across the UK meaning public transport is becoming much healthier for the environment. Consider alternative modes of transport: Bicycles or walking – great health benefits as well as environmental benefits. Trains – outperforming personal vehicles in terms of emissions, per person per mile they are healthier for the environment and safer than cars. Electric / Hybrid vehicles – more investment in battery storage is making them cheaper to run and maintain along with being able to travel longer distances. But it’s not only your mode of transport that can help you reduce emissions, there are a number of other ways to be more eco-friendly while travelling: Do one large grocery shop rather than lots of small trips to reduce the number of times you drive your vehicle. Car share with others to work or when driving long distances. Not only will save you in fuel costs, but also release significantly less emissions into the air. Remove unnecessary weight from your vehicle and keep tyres properly inflated to be more fuel efficient.
What can businesses do to help reduce air pollution?
There are many ways businesses can help to reduce the number of emissions going into the air: Installing EV chargepoints in your business can offer several benefits to your business as well as contributing to the UKs EV charging infrastructure. If you have a business fleet, consider swapping to electric vehicles. This has a significant amount of influence on the electric vehicle market. More than half of all new vehicles are bought by businesses, these are then sold on to the second-hand consumer market. So the more they buy, the more go into the market for individuals to buy. Businesses can also promote cycle to work schemes, allowing people to make the healthier choice to ride their bike to work. Promoting energy efficiency throughout your workplace is also a great way to get your employees on board. We have several energy efficiency tips to help your business make small changes and improve your energy efficiency. Many energy suppliers also offer green/renewable energy plans, helping businesses to report zero carbon emissions and support their CSR agenda
